Sustainable Tourism Bogotá

This tour allows you to experience the life of local artisans first-hand while visiting multiple towns and villages throughout the region. It's an excellent opportunity to interact with the local people, learn from rural artisans and support family-owned businesses.

Enjoy a leisurely ride along the lagoon with local fishermen, learn how to make your own basket from junco reeds and spend the night in a laid-back artisan town. Participate in a clay workshop, browse stores filled to the brim with locally-made handicrafts and explore the cobblestone streets of colonial Villa de Leyva.

Accommodation

The tour includes accommodation in a mid-range hotel in the town. Luxury upgrades are not available. Click here for more information on the available accommodation options.

Things to know

Ráquira is located roughly 3.5 hours from Bogotá to the north, in a warm micro-desert climate at 2100 m.a.s.l. The area is dry, with average temperatures ranging from 15ºC to 20ºC all year round. Temperatures at the Fúquene lagoon average slightly lower and rain is not uncommon.
