Sustainable Tourism Bogotá
During this innovative 3-day tour you will truly be immersed in a cultural and natural experience like no other. You will pick, grind, roast and taste your own coffee; learn about the growing of cocoa beans for the making of chocolate and join a forest hike looking for howler monkeys. End this tour by weaving baskets and exploring the colorful streets of colonial coffee towns.
We will spend the first night on a coffee farm with a local family and the second night at a tropical nature reserve. Rooms are fitted with a double bed and outside bathrooms.
The coffee/cocoa lands have a warmer climate with day time temperatures up to 32ºC and night temperatures of 15ºC with the possibility of sporadic rain showers.
This 3-day tour begins in the city of Bogotá and ends 300 km away in the central Andes (we can also arrange for a drop-off back in Bogotá). It´s a great choice for people traveling from the capital city of Bogotá to Armenia, Pereira or Salento. The altitude range of the areas visited is 800 to 2000 m.a.s.l.
Tour is priced at $390 per person based on a 2-person minimum. This includes private 4x4 transport, a bilingual guide, 2 night's accommodation in rural farm-stays, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, all entrances, drop-off in Armenia or Salento upon request, personal accident insurance and a link to an online photo album.
"My boyfriend and I can't speak highly enough of our experience with Andes Ecotours. Because of the tour, we were able to see SO much of Quindio and the valley - from a stay at a coffee farm, to stop overs in small pueblos. Without the ecotour, there is no doubt that we would not have been able to see the sites we saw and meet the people we met. Andres is a great guide. He's knowledgable, knows how to navigate the winding Colombian highway over the mountains (a true skill!), and gave us a really perfect balance of things to do/places to be and downtime to explore on our own and enjoy the small towns we stopped in. Honestly, we packed so much into 4 days, it felt like 4 weeks. We are so impressed with the tour and would HIGHLY recommend that everyone takes advantage of this unique opportunity to explore Colombia." - Kathleen
